Many people have asked me this question and many are thinking to ask… So I want to summarize my opinion in this post.

By ‘Degree’ I mean a BTech, BE, MTech, MBA etc. These are 4 things that people think they will get by having a degree.

1. Job
2. Knowledge
3. Enjoyment
4. Degree itself

lets me explain each of these.

Job

People think that they will get job only when they have a degree. This is true for some people. But it is not true for all of them. There are jobs which does not require any Degree. There are jobs which are based on skill, and not based on written paper.

Knowledge

This is a myth. People think that they will get knowledge when they study a formal Degree. That is what they think when they start. But when they finished, they will think that they don’t know anything. I have talked so many people in atleast IT domain. They have finished MCAs, BTEch etc without any understanding of what they did and why they did. What they can learn from 6 months of JOB they can not learn in 4 years of BTech course.

There will be some 5% of people who may got some knowledge, and I am sure you are not one of them.

Enjoyment

There might be some truth here. Because most of the people whom I have taken interviews, did nothing for knowledge. So they should have really spent all their time in ‘Masthi’. So it is a good way to enjoy 4 years of you life without worrying anything about the outside world.

Degree Itself

I mean the paper that says you have a degree. There are so many people out there, who wants to do degree just because every one is doing. If people are doing what every one is doing, we should still be using stones to create fire. But world moves forward when you start thinking and make informed decisions.

When every one is doing some thing because all others are doing, then that society is going to die in near future.

Now let me explain why you should not do degree if you do not have one already.

• You are already reading my blog, so you are in good enough position to take proper decisions. If you are not well informed, then following others is good. But that is not the case here.
• People read just to pass exams. And do nothing for knowledge. So why to choose to write exam in first place.
• You can save lot of money(min 4 lakh) in 4 years. And for some people that is bigger than their total asset.
• You can get 4 years of upstart experience, which is again much bigger asset than anything else.
• You can mold your career in a proper direction from starting itself, which will make your life more happy.
• Doing a business is much more than doing a MBA. So go ahead and start a business if you want to do MBA.

Most of us think these three are related. Yes, religion and rituals are related. But are they related to culture. What is the definition of ‘Culture’?

According to dictionary the first definition is..

the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.

I am wondering why are they are not giving more than one Phone Number for a single SIM card?

From what I understand, your number is just what they have in backend. It is nothing to do with the communication between you and your cell phone tower.

So they can give multiple number and any call to any number will be redirected to same call phone. Is it not possible? Hey any tele-communication guys over here?

If it is already existing, then I think I would have had at least 3 numbers.

• One for family
• One for business
• One for social

Not only me, I think crores of people in this country will need more than one number. As of now they have to carry these many phones or buy Dual SIM phones.

Telephone operators can change more money for the existing resources they are giving. Just software change, and get some millions.

I came across an article about Firefox having tabs on the top like Chrome in next version.

While reading it, I was thinking… Why are we discussing about this at all? Can’t present Firefox be changed by the end users in what ever way they like? No mater where we show the tabs, I don’t think any of the other functionality of the browser or the components in the toolbar change.

So why our software is being designed in such a way that we need to wait for an year to just change the tabs from one place to another place, but for anyone with little common sense it looks like, such things should be possible with 1 or 2 minutes of user customization.

Software Development is still stuck in its early stages. It did not grow up in anyway. They are just finding faster ways of doing things, easier ways of writing code. But I strongly believe the optimization should be done on how easier for user to change. Software should adapt to users. Not the other way around.

People are happy with stupid enhancements like remembering passwords, history auto fill etc. But the developers have totally forgot that there are much more to an user than that.

I am sure, I am definitely going to change this. Keep watching.

Please read this article by keeping the following things in mind.

• I am not criticizing the democracy
• I am not in favour of any other system other than democracy

The biggest problem I have seen so far is..in democracy every one is same.

Take for instance the vote of our RBI Governor, or Indian President and a vote of some person working the fields, uneducated. never went to school, who votes for the person who gives more money. Now both of them have equal power. No other point in life of those people they will have equal power. Only when it comes to voting in general elections, they both have equal power.

It is abviously not the right system. I agree that there is no better solution which I know. But are we all sure that there can not be any better solution? I will keep thinking about it when I have time. What do you think?

Recently I happened to be in HDFC bank for some unfortunate reasons. I have seen that HDFC bank is selling Gold. I used to think that banks are for lending money and other financial related tasks. Due to this new Gold selling function of that bank I did suffer. I dont know what the management of the Bank wants from selling gold. Why wont they start new subsidry of HDFC bank and use do such tasks? Are the bank employes having less work?

Any one from HDFC bank?

I have been thinking on this issue from long time. Till now have not found any reasonable explanation till now.

Why do we need to learn our mother tongue?

I don’t mean we should start talking in English or Hindi. But my question is why we need to have a subject to teach the language which we already know? Why are we wasting our valuable time reading things which are of no use in this world?

One of the most striking response to this question is “How can u say that this is not use full?”
But for me the answer seems simple and obvious. The question looks like “How can you say that the dust in the dustbin is useless?”. Nothing is useless if u take it in that way. But the general meaning of useless is “Something not worth keeping or learning or buying etc”.

I have asked my mother who have got double M.A in Telugu (Of course she doesn’t know any thing u expect from her M.A’s) the following questions..

1. Why we need to learn “Sandhulu & Samasalu”?
2. How dose that learning will help any one? even a poet?
3. If all the essence of the Telugu teaching is to learn new words and meanings isn’t there any alternative and best way to do so?

She was not able to answer that question. I will ask this question to some teacher who is teaching Telugu.

Do you have any answer  to my questions? Can you proove that they are not useless?

Cell phone have became a commodity these days. Every one have one. No mater how smart these cell phone manufacturers are I still see there is a feature that they can add.

Every one of us use IM and E-mail. All such software have blocking list. If u get a IM or mail from one person in your blocked list..your software will automatically block it and may delete it also.

Then why not there is such a feature in the CELL PHONE.

Why I am not able to block any number? This feature works just like IM softwares. When ever u get a call from any such number it will automatically reject the call.

Ironically there is no need of any hardware change. It is just a software that dose all these.. Then why they have not came up with such thing yet?

I may have seen around 15 to 20 different models of phones till now. None of them have this small feature till now as far as i can remember. Do your phone have this feature?

If you are working in a company that makes cell phones ..make sure that ur next phone to have it..its your duty.

No, There are no ATMs in 1900. But it seems like the makers of ATM machines are still there itself.
It appears like some one made a machine long back..and these people are just making copies of it.
Dispite all the technological changes and changes to user habits I see no improvements in the ATM machines.

Some of the dumbest things i have noticed are……

• Why is it asking about our account type?(Current & Savings)
• Why is it asking us to press “Balance” button to know our balance? Is it not supposed show the balance after we press the PIN?
• Why are they putting advertisements in the screens when they are supposed to perform user functions fastly and give it to another person behind him? First of all have any one saw any ad in the screen? All we are looking for is information about our account. Not those funny things. They can put them all on the walls of ATM center?
• Why is it not showing our balance while we try to withdraw?
• Why we need to wait for another screen to know that we dont have sufficient balance while we try to withdraw some? They can do the realtime checking of the available amount before we go to next page itself. Like a HTML form validation..

If any of you know correct reason for above things..please let me know. If it is just because they are sooo dumb… lets make sure that we are not one of them..
