My Birthday Gift

May 31st, 2012 2 comments

As the part of my commitment to change systems for better, and in-trun change it better for me, I am supporting Loksatta Party and its agenda. As of now I am busy in proving my skills and trying to become a success. Due to that reason I am not able to support or invest full time for my cause. As I explained in my previous post, I believe changing education system will bring a long lasting change to the system for the better. Once I am successful, I will go full time into bringing that change.

As of now what I can do is to give what ever external support I can afford to give. Tomorrow(June 1st) is my birthday. Many of you might already know that I don’t wish others actively on birthday. My reason is that there are just words, but we know what we all want. I know all of you want to wish lot of success and happiness to me on my birthday. Same is true for your birthday too, or infact anyday if we consider.

For a change for this birthday, I am proposing the following. I want all those people who wishes me good lucks or happiness, please give support to Loksatta Party, and donate any amount you like starting from Rs50/-. What ever amount you are going to donate/invest, that much amount I am going in invest to Loksatta too. That means of all my friends who sees this wants to donate 5k or 10k, I am going to match that much amount from my purse. I will collect from you and will donate on your behalf, or you can do directly. As my resources are limited, and for safe side I want to put a maximum limit on this total as Rs50k. That means up to 50k I am going to match your amount.

I think there is no need for explaining why I choose Loksatta instead of some other party. But If you are not sure, do leave a comment, and I will explain why.

This idea is also useful for me to test in what kind of circle I am in. I hope you guys don’t disappoint me.

Where is the Action? – Part2

May 30th, 2012 Comments off

Well, I know it is not easy to express what all I think on this aspect, so I am continuing with this post. To help me, I am going to use the comment I got for my first post. Many other people also may be thinking same as those expressed in that comment, hence here is my reply to it.

1. We are all selfish. All humans are. And it is not wrong. And to say don’t waste time & money going to temples or donating there is like telling don’t watch movies. God is a source of strength for some people. And let them find their own ways to deal with their strengths. So let it be there.

Right, we are all selfish. Saying don’t waste money by going to temple or donating etc, is like don’t watch movies. I agree. God is a source of some thing they need. Like a tonic, or a tablet, or Birayani. But I don’t think every one is looking at this in that way. If they are, then I am perfectly fine with it. I think many people believe that it is some thing more, some thing that makes us think not just about us, but about people around us too. I thought some religions say that caring and helping others is better than eating Biryani, or going to temple.

2. Root cause identification is dependent on how we look at it. To say that politics is the root cause; I do not agree though I feel that it is one area which needs change yes; but not root cause. Perhaps there is no root cause at all. It is a set of things going wrong. To say if politics change all problems get solved. I doubt that. There could be development but not change in the society which would solve all the problems you have stated above.

I agree that there is no single root cause. But when I say root cause, I mean the cause, on which if we invest now will give the maximum ROI. May be the word ‘root’ is wrong choice here. What I mean is “Maximum ROI Cause”. Yet, if some of you think that it is not the Maximum ROI cause, then some thing else is. We may not all have to agree on what that cause is. Still my basic argument is still valid. Where is the Action?

3. Having seen highly educated people do things just the wrong I doubt that would help too. May be this is cynicism. That’s why we fill petrol tanks if the cost increases and vote for the TDP’s and the Congress. Because we do not see a better option and we don’t have a hope of seeing the result without it being misused somewhere in the middle. If I give a Re to the beggar; even if he is fake and would use it for drinking I know for sure some middle man wont build an empire out of 50 paise in that.

There is another angle which I did not mentioned in my last post on why I want to invest in politics to change education. Yes being in politics, we can change who can get education etc. That is only one side of my plan/hope. I believe politics can also define what is education. It has the power to define what you are going to read in your books, and what is being thought in the schools.  I am very unhappy about the state of education in the country or for that matter anywhere in the world. I am very happy with Maths, Science or History etc. But I am very unhappy about the study of Business, Ethics, Humanity, Religion, Reasoning and other similar subjects. I believe anyone who has proper grip on these aspects can rule the world even without other things like Maths, Science etc. Because foundation is important for some things, Maths no matter when you learn is same. But Ethics, Humanity, Religion etc are not same. If you do not teach them at early age, you can almost never teach them. I want to bring these subjects in to our syllabus, and remove some useless stuff.(we had lot of argument on one of them before). How can you not have Ethics, Business as a subject is beyond my understanding. I believe that they should be in every year from 1st to 10th with increasing complexity.

If there is one wish some one can grant to me, it will be this. I am willing to invest significant % of my assets on this cause.

If you tell me Lok Satta is the alternative then:
As an active netizen I have not seen anywhere any demonstration of what work they are doing. There is no reason for me to believe them. And if a Lok Satta party candidate contests in my area beyond JP I doubt their credentials. And like TDP ran because of NTR and Congress because of YSR; LSP cannot run on the single shoulder of JPN. It is not right also. In a day when we have allegations against every individual in the society; education and words fail to make us believe in the good intentions of any person. We dont believe them forget invest in them for a better society.

I hope not everyone feels as hopeless as the above comments suggest.
Let us consider the scenario: You got cancer, and you know you got cancer, every one knows you got cancer. But you don’t believe in any doctor personally. You believe that almost all doctors are evil, and they will try to rip your money in the name of the cure. Now, what do you do? Actually you have 3 options.

  1. You shut yourself in your home, and you die after some days due to cancer.
  2. You become a doctor yourself and cure yourself.
  3. You find a doctor whom you trust most compared to other doctors.  And pay him some fee and get your self some treatment. If he is not good enough, switch to next best hope.

I believe that the above example is exactly similar to the problem we are discussing. And according to what I understand, the comments above tells that they would choose option 1. That is to die with the cancer. I am not sure how that would be a better solution?

Seems like there is a 4th option too “Do daily exercise and keep yourself fit, so in that way may be you will live little longer than you would be otherwise.” Those who wants to choose that 4th option, hmm, give me a call first.

For the specific reason I have not mentioned any party name or any leader name. I wanted others to choose their Party & Leaders. There will be other argument later on who is better leader or party.

The main reason why I thought of writing these posts on this topic is this…we all know there are problems, we all complain about them, but don’t just sit there and hope that some miracle will happen. There is no solution that is perfect. But choose a solution that you think is better than other. If you disagree with my Best ROI option, then tell me what is yours and why(with some logic atleast)? And what you are going to do about it?

Where is the Action?

May 23rd, 2012 2 comments

We all know that there are lot of problems affecting our society at present. All of us have faced those tough situations in one way or other. Here are some of the examples

  • Poverty and lack of basic health care
  • Lack of enough women in workforce
  • Corruption and proper governance
  • Education and Employment
  • City & Rural Infrastructure
  • Care for elderly mainly for poor people

I am sure many of us have faced these issues. But did we take any action? I believe that most of us does not know what and how they can solve these problems, and some of us who knows what to do also, did not do it.

Each of these problems are some how connected to one other. If we want to solve a problem that might be the caused by many other factors, we need to consider the root cause of  those problems. It may be business or social service I believe the investment should be kept based on the ROI(Return on Investment). ROI will be higher if we invest in curing the root problem. But doing so needs patience and long term planning. When we are sick, and we take medicine to give temporary relief, and ignore the long term cure, the problem will come again and our ROI will be less. Some times short term relief is also needed, otherwise the patient will not continue the long term treatment.

I want to show here that all above problems have some root cause and I will show where the maximum ROI can be obtained in solving that problem. (this is my opinion, yours may be different)

  • Poverty and lack of basic health care
Poverty -> Employment -> Education -> Govt Policy on Education -> Government  -> Politics
-> Industrial & Economic Policy of Government  ->Government -> Politics
    Basic Health Care -> Poverty
-> Govt Health Care Policy -> Government
  • Lack of enough women in workforce ->Education ==> Politics
  • Corruption and proper governance -> Politics
  • Education and Employment -> Education ==> Politics
  • City & Rural Infrastructure -> Governance -> Government -> Politics
  • Care for elderly mainly for poor people -> Education

As you see most of our problems are based on Politics. Now What is the cause of bad politics. I believe that it is the silence or stupidity of the educated people.

How many of us might have spent 1k to 10k for trips to temples, or just donated to beggars etc. I believe most of might have. Most of us believe going to Place of worship  like (Thirupathi, or Shirdi, or some other place) is a personal issue. It is like they get happiness. Now that means that it is a completely selfish act. It will be of no benefit to anyone else other than you. I don’t know of any God or Book of religion which prioritizes selfish acts over social service. Now there are two groups here. Those who spend money for selfish religions reasons, and some do that and plus some social services.

Now, if you are interested in social services and have worried about some of the above things I mentioned, what did you do till now. If you have not done anything, what is the reason? If you do not have any reason, is it not the time to act?
So let us take action now. Do some thing to cure above deceases. But remember to make sure that your ROI is higher.

According to me, the ROI will be higher only when we invest in “Politics”. I do not suggest the same to all of you even though I should. My reason is my fear. I have came across lot of educated and intelligent people. But I see that some of them are still finding logic in voting to Congress, TDP, or some other party like YSR Congress etc. So think not all of those are capable of making correct investment in Politics. For those who do, I suggest to invest in Politics.

Politics is the only medium through which we can bring the massive changes in the society. For me there is another reason for investing in Politics.

Education is the root cause of bad politics. So we should invest in Education. But as of now it is controlled by Government, and that is by Politics. So it is a circle. So we need to invest in politics, to bring better education, that in trun bring better politics.

I do not believe that giving employment or money to poor will make then think better and start making better decisions. Only way to bring that is through education.

I want to change education, because I believe that it is in the worst possible state right now.

I know some of us, who think these are small issues and the speed of growth and globalization will settle all of these over a period of time. I am not that much optimistic. We know stupid laws passed by stupid politicians, and some day they will be bad enough that even if you wanted to do some thing good, they will not allow you.

So if you are complaining about things, fist please invest in cure, and then talk about the problem. If you don’t know what is the best ROI possible, please invest in the next best solution. There will be some solution even if it is not the best, so not investing anything and hoping that you will find the better investment later is foolish.

Contact me if you are ready for investment and want to argue with me on which one will give best ROI.
